Me Again.....

I just read on my friends blog that one of her neighbors has been going through Chemo and she didn't know what to do so she took over a gift and card. What she did was perfect! Let me share my experience.

When I first got sick in Nov. '02 we were pretty new to our ward there, but they knew who we were because my VT'ers came and visited me in the hospital and at the time I thought everything was fine and I was going to be going home the next day! Needless to say that was the night that I got put on a ventilator and then spent the next week in ICU!!

Well, first off I was in the hospital for two weeks and nobody called or left a card! I mean nobody, and the bishop even knew I was in the hospital longer on the edge of death! I came home and then proceeded to go back to the hospital every week for 3-4 days I would come home and then have to go back again!!! And I never heard from my VT'ers again! They knew I had been sick, they visited me in the hospital, yet no check up to see if I did make it home or how I was doing, not even at christmas time was I remembered!!! This went on all through out dec. and half of January! And this whole time NOBODY called or came by or wrote a note. So the first sunday back I half expected a 'are you new?' or 'I don't remember your name' or at least a 'welcome back' I got NOTHING!!! nobody said a word to me!!!! Honestly that was the first time I ever thought of not going back to church! I couldn't believe that with all I had been through the last two months and nobody cared. I finally decided that I don't go to church for the social aspect and went back.

Over the next two years that we lived in the ward it got better when I would be sick and go to the hospital, a few people would remember us and care about us. Sometimes I think people rely on taking meals in as a way to replace caring or shows that they care. In our ward now they are pretty good, our bishop is amazing, but I have still felt the out cast! NOBODY comes by to visit! NOBODY calls! NOBODY leaves cards (okay now I'm tearing up). I thought I had friends, we live in a cul-de-sac and I thought we took care of each other! there would be times that I have been sitting outside (with my oxygen tube it only reaches in the back yard, if I want to go further I have to change to my portable one) and my neighbor might wave to me but not make the effort to come say hi! or once my own VT walked right by the gate and just waved! Didn't say hi or ask how I was!!!!!! it really hurts! But I don't want to have hard feelings toward them, I try to look at it from their shoes, they are uncomfortable since I am wearing oxygen?....that is what brought me to the blogging world so much because it was friends, there was caring and sharing, I felt a part of the outside world again.

I know this didn't come out the way I wanted it too, the main message here being that if people are sick and you don't know what to do for them, a card or email (if they are on the computer a lot like me) or a phone call is so nice, just letting them know that you are thinking of them will mean so much to them! Trust me I know.

I know in the picture I don't have oxygen on but I do have to wear it 24/7 I just take it off for pictures!

Mail on a holiday?

Awhile back I participated in a Back2school Swap and today my swap partner delivered her stuff to my house! She has been really busy and didn't get to the post office and was so nice to bring it to my house!!! And in an amazingly cute bag!! (funny thing is I almost did the same thing! We only live like 8 miles apart!

So let me tell you was in my cute bag. She told me that she gave me some stuff to get my creative juices started with scrapbooking and she's right! She gave me some really cute paper in the colors I love, some buttons and cute ribbon (need to learn how to use ribbon) and an adhesive tape dispenser (which I almost bought today!!!)it came right in the nick of time because I had just gone to Wal-mart and decided to check-out their section on scrapbooking to see if there was something there to inspire me!! Perfect timing!!! And since there is no mail it was a great surprise! And a nice pick-me-up since nothing was going on today even though it is a holiday!!! So thank you to my swap partner for these wonderful things!

So since it is a holiday the only thing I've done out of the ordinary is watch a movie during the day! We rented 'Because I said so' and it was cute, would have been better if I could catch everything, my hearing is so bad that I have to turn it all the way up and since that is annoying because then the rest of the movie is loud and if they have any music or loud parts they are really loud so then I have to turn it down which gets annoying so I don't have it that loud and therefore miss out on some good parts. Oh well. We also watched 'Wild Hogs' the other day and it was a pretty good movie too, a good light fun movie if that's what you're in the mood for.

Happy Labor Day! Check out my post below!!!

Blog Contest Over!

Okay, the blog contest has ended!!!! But I will give you one more chance to tell me your favorite color! I have Donna, Marie, and Lucy's. Just respond to this post with it. Marie asked me what I was cross-stitching and it is the prize!!! So I will see if I have anymore people respond with their favorite color or else I'll announce the winner.

Also I have been trying to upload a video for two days and it just doesn't do it!!! Why? I let it load for like 4 hours!!!! I have some cute video's of my dogs to put up!

I'm sorry I didn't post this last week about me but I've been so excited about doing my prize!!!

Good luck, I really would love to include you in my contest so post your color!!!!

I'll end with my dogs of course, Texas found this on their walk and was so proud of it! She loves it! That reminds me of another walk, she picked up this pretty big and long stick and carried it all the way home!

One year Anniversary

It was one year ago that we got Texas, she was 3 months old so her birthday isn't now, just when she came into our family, so I will dedicate this post to her.

This is my adorable Puggle (pug/beagle mix) Texas, the first dog that is truly mine from a little puppy. I think a Puggle is the best med. to small dog you can get! I have loved beagles for their ears and bouncy attitudes and Texas sure got that part! And then pugs are sooooo loving! I don't like dogs with pointy noses or ears that stick straight up (sorry, not to be offensive to any dog) so this dog is perfect! Her nose is a little smashed in and she has extra skin so she has great expressions and her forhead even wrinkles up! I use to have a fun children's area next to my living room for all the little kids that came with their mom's when they got their haircut, then I got sick and so I wasn't doing hair as much and also Texas needed more space! So she took it over, even the chalkboard!!!

This is when she was a puppy, she loved to put toys in her bed and then she would sleep on them! And I don't think you can see it but there is my husbands shoe in there!!!

Her sister Annie lives with my in-laws

And I love that she has a semi-curly tail!

Next post on our other dog Chugs...

What a friday

I feel like I am finally making progress as a good blog hostess, I actually remembered my camera and took some pictures! I'm not perfect as I forgot to take some significant pictures too!

Had a Dr. appoint those are never fun, but if you have a great book that you can't put down or if you have a craft project (like my embroidery) it helps a lot!!! This is a picture of me in the car (it's about 45mins. to the dr. and 70mins. home since it's at traffic time!) doing my embroidery.

We had to stop at R.E.I. since we were close, my husband LOVES that store!

There was a guy there wearing these shoes, kinda cool but weird at the same time!

And then we ate dinner before coming home at Texas Roadhouse, I was going to take a picture of the menu but then thought, no I'll take a picture of the resturant before we leave, that's the picture I forgot! I took a picture of our wonderful rolls and cinnamon butter!!!! Yummy! I was also going to take one of our meal but then I thought my husband would think I was going overboard or psycho or something.

So I feel like a did a good blogging picture day. What do you think?
