Soup

Thanks for the suggestions Soup is a very good one especially this time of year. What kind of soup is your favorite? And do you have some simple recipes?

HOPE

Today I looked up some Hymns about HOPE, I really think the third verse of Come, Come, Ye Saints applies well:
We'll find the place which God for us prepared.
Far away in the west, where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the saints will be blessed. We'll make the air with music ring,
shout praises to our God and King; above the rest these words we'll tell-
All is well! All is well!

I had never sung this Hymn before: 'O God, Our Help in Ages Past' but I went to the Church's website here and was able to listen to it and learn it, you can even do parts!
I really like the first stanza of this song as it relates to faith:
O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come.

I need suggestions....

My Mom makes some freezer food for me so that I will have something to eat for lunch or dinner (since I rarely cook) last time she made:
Cubed Steak
Ham Loaf
Stroganoff
Mac N' Cheese (hers is really good but it doesn't freeze well)
Meatloaf
Stew
BBQ beef sand. stuff

Don't get me wrong it was wonderful yummy stuff but I am kinda burnt out on it, any suggestions on what she can make that freezes well?

I did have a picture of my freezer right after she brought me food last time, can't find it!

HOPE

Today I just typed HOPE in search here and highlighted the first thing it came up with, just some simple sections explaining HOPE, I really liked this:
The word hope is sometimes misunderstood. In our everyday language, the word often has a hint of uncertainty. For example, we may say that we hope for a change in the weather or a visit from a friend. In the language of the gospel, however, the word hope is sure, unwavering, and active.

That is true, however, I think I use the word HOPE in the language of the gospel more than in a everyday language, just to me I feel like when I say HOPE you have a good day I do mean it in a sure, unwavering, active way, okay now thinking about it can I use it in that sense? did I just mess it all up? But I don't say it with a hint of uncertainty, if I say I HOPE you feel better soon I really mean it! Good stuff to ponder.

HOPE

Dictionary:
Hope~expected or look forward to, with desire and confidence.

I read a lot of scriptures today and felt like I should put them into diffferent catergories, different definitions of hope, what it stands for, what is was implying in that scripture. I do like this one though because it is telling us that if we have Hope it will show and others will ask us about it and we need to have an answer ready to share (sound familiar huh?).

1 Peter 3:15
. . . and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

HOPE

H Ouest Bead Letter P E
Lots of people have a word for the year when I thought about this HOPE totally popped into my head because of what I read in 'Preach My Gospel'
Hope is an abiding trust in that the Lord will fulfill His promises to you. It is manifest in confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perseverance. It is believing and expecting that something will occur. When you have hope, you work through trials and difficulties with the confidence and assurance that all things will work together for your good. Hope helps you conquer discouragement. The scriptures often describe hope in Jesus Christ as the assurance that you will inherit eternal life in the celestial kingdom.

I feel like that is something I really want to research and understand more and apply more to my life. There are so many to choose from I might do a word a month, we'll see how I do this first month. I want to make it a blog post, my researching of Hope (or my monthly word).

Happy New Year!

Don't you just love Calvin and Hobbes? I feel the same way.

A New Year, the perfect time to recommit myself to my goals. I seem to make the same ones over and over, probably because I will never be perfect! But I have some new ones this year so I would like to put them down here to hopefully help myself to work on them harder.

1. Be a lot nicer to my husband.

2. Be better at blogging and taking pictures for the blog.

3. Don't talk about the in-laws and just let what they say slide off the back.

4. Be a better friend by writing sending more 'good mail'.

5. Using my time more wisely during the day.

Those are just a few I need to work on that are seen more publicly. Well off to finish off my first day of the new year by watching a movie and cuddling with hubby!
