Snow, snow and more snow!!!!

We have early morning church (okay only 9am) and when we left there was at least 6 inches, at least we only live maybe a mile from the church (and it's downhill) so we made it to church with only minor slipping. While we were in church for only two hours it snowed another 4 inches or so, they canceled Sacrament meeting and told everyone to go home, that is easier said than done! we tried one way and couldn't make it up the hill so we went the other way and barely made it home (I was thinking maybe I should catch a ride from our neighbor who has an SUV!) although we couldn't make it up our driveway! I feel bad for the people that live at the top of the cul-de-sac because they have a car and I know it won't make it!!!!!!!!!

My husband of course loves the snow, loves shoveling the snow, he was out helping to keep the sidewalks around the church clear (it was very hard though, just a lot of snow!). These pictures were taken in the afternoon after it stopped snowing and warmed up a little, that's why the sidewalk looks so good.

Good Deed....

Yes I have an Apple, I love it and am proud to be an Apple user:) The photos in the previous post were done on their program called photobooth, so fun!

So today I got a different lady who was nice and didn't make me feel like I messing up her schedule to take me (and my dog) to the vets, I thought about calling just to double make sure they were there etc... just because it would be my luck that something was going on and they weren't there....I didn't call, and by the way Chugs did fine in the car, she didn't poop on the seat....we get there and I tell the lady that Chugs needs a shot and she asks if I have an appointment, no it's the shot clinic isn't it? no it's on thurs. not tues.!!!!!!! I knew I should have called!!!! But they were nice and did it anyways.

Thank You to nice people who don't make other people feel bad when they ask for help.

Visiting Teachers...

I know I haven't always been the best visiting teacher (but I love this program and I have tried my best) and I will even admit that last year I didn't go once! Yes I could blame it on my health and the fact that my partner had a brain tumor and then complications and can't walk and I couldn't help her with my health etc. etc... but I hate excuses! So maybe I deserve this.

I have never had good visiting teachers, I read about them, I guess they are out there some where, I wish I had some! I have had the same visiting teachers since I moved in two years ago up until two months ago, they just never helped or called or came by and I (and my husband) knew that I needed more help and therefore new VT. I told the RS pres. that I needed some that would be able to help me clean and take me on errands since I can't do this anymore. First it took 4 months, then I get new ones and once I found out who they were I wasn't excited, you know how you just know! One of them is my neighbor (my NEIGHBOR)that's right, and it is this one that I am writing about.

So the first time they come over I plan on telling them after they do the customary 'is there anything we can do for you?' ending I was all prepared to tell them I do need some help, well they didn't do it!!!!!! they didn't ask at all if I needed help! Then I muster up the courage to call the VT that is my neighbor and ask her if she can come and help me clean (first it is really hard to ask someone for help like that! to admit that you can't clean your own house anymore!) well she told me that she might be coming down with something and didn't want to get me sick so she would see how she felt the next day and give me a call.....no call.....ever. And she didn't even offer a solution or a let me call my partner and see if she can do it, I wasn't going to call her that call already totally took it out of me! I was sobbing when I hung up! I don't know if I called my sister that day or the next but I started crying when I told her too!

I believe in giving second chances... so I called my VT again (the neighbor, remember?) she loves my dog Chugs, Chugs and her dog would play around etc.... well I need a ride to the vet to get Chugs her annual shot, not a better person to ask then her right? First I feel like I am pulling teeth, she is hmmming and aahhhing the shot clinic is tuesday afternoon and saturday morning, well she has things to do....blah, blah, but if we did it right at 2pm she could possibly make it back in time.... wow thanks for making me feel like I am twisting your arm! but she actually said YES! then she calls the day before, 'lots of snow, hopefully it won't be like this tomorrow!' (great she wants to cancel) 'do you have a pet carrier?' (I thought for her dog), 'no' 'oh I was wondering what we were going to do with Chugs?' 'oh, she just sits on my lap, she loves car rides' (and she really does, she has never once in her life been in a pet carrier, you mention car ride and she is jumping up and down!) 'I just don't want her to get nervous and poop on my seat' 'she won't poop on your seat, she loves car rides, even in different cars' (besides she loves this neighbor so it really isn't a strange situation) 'okay then, bye' Well she didn't back out...she calls again 'I can't do it tomorrow I am taking a friend to lunch and I don't think I'll be back in time' blah blah excuse as to why she has to take the friend tomorrow. I was fed up, it's alright, fine!!!!!

Now the week before I did need to run errands bad, I called a counsler in the RS presidency that told me I could call her if I needed too and she is really nice, so I did, and it was great and she was so nice, helped me with my oxygen and groceries. So today I asked her if she would give me a ride to the vet, she needs to check her schedule.

Oh yeah, so as my VT cancelled she asked if they could come by and visit!!!! I'm too nice I said sure, but I couldn't let that ____ into my house. So I took a nap during that time on purpose!!!!! Yep, I missed them, the other one told me today that they came by! Oh sorry, I was napping! I really want to believe that they are called by inspiration and therefore I gave her two chances, but the bishop asked about stuff and my husband told him (he was really mad btw, he wanted to put a sign on the door that said to go away and never come back, I wouldn't let him) hopefully I'll get new VT.

I just don't get why people aren't offering help anymore! at the beginning it seemed like people were asking all the time, now when I will actually say yes nobody is! Our HT and his family are coming over every other week to clean (mop floors, vacuum, bathroom) so that is finally working out. And I have had thank you cards for over a month sitting here because I can't go get stamps!!!!!!! (finally did). I just need to set up a time probably every other week to run errands, like library, pick-up meds, etc...

The ward overall is good to us, the bishop is wonderful and the ward is bringing us dinners four days a week (well when they don't forget, which at least one person if not two do each week). Want to hear a crazy statistic in our ward? we have had four brain tumors in the past two years!!!!! don't move here! and one of those is my friend two houses up who moved in the same time I did, is my age, had her second baby (first girl) just three months before they found hers, and she developed a rare complication where the brain doesn't return to normal, she has had her sight, speech, and movement affected, her memory is great and when she speaks it is so much better, she still needs assistance to walk but does pretty well. The dr.'s thought she would return to normal but since it's been so long (1 1/2 yrs. now) they say it's permanent (although there is always hope). So she has been the one that through all my health issues I am inspired by because she has needed and still needs help, she can't even take care of her kids, hasn't been able to take care of her little girl since she was 3 months old and now the girl is such a daddy's girl....but she continues to endure and is an inspiration to me to keep going. And oh how I wish I could help her, I can't even walk up to her house (it is inclined from mine) and visit with her (and of course she can't walk down to mine without assistance). We just laugh, what a pair we make:)

President Hinckley.....

President Gordon B. Hinckley passed away today, he was a wonderful prophet and example to me of what manner of men we should be. I am happy to know that he is reunited with his beloved wife. I loved his optimism and every single talk he gave inspired and uplifted me, one of the many many quotes I love is: 'stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight'.
